Just like hopes springing high, Still I’ll rise."

As a Chicana born and raised in Los Angeles to parents from Yucatan, Mexico, I attended a high school in the 90's where many students were not expected to graduate. I was told by teachers I didn't have many choices in life.
I was expelled from two high schools and finally graduated at the age of 19 from an alternative school in Hollywood, CA with the help from mentors who believed in me.
After high school, I realized that structures did not exist to support someone like me to succeed, so I created my own. This is why I am passionate about helping people transform their old stories and beliefs about themselves and create a beautiful fulfilling life they didn't know was possible for them.
I learned how to use spirituality and self development techniques to create my own Self Care Rituals as structures of self support in order to stop believing the lies I was told about who I was at a young age and start learning the truth about the power and potential all people have when they have support and the right environment to nurture their gifts and talents.
Betty Torres lives in Northern California with her soulmate of 25 years, musician, artist, Angel Garcia of SpiderMonkey Beats and their two children Copal and Violetta. As a poet and former performance artist, she has traveled to Oaxaca, Yucatan, Palenque, Arizona and New Mexico performing together with Angel's former band Mezklah, where she came across many mentors and healers who taught her the importance of life purpose, transformation and co-creating with Mother Earth's gifts.
She started her first business, Poetic Potions in Los Angeles, in 2005, in order to offer safe and gentle body care for the community as well as workshops to educate people on how to make their own healing products. She now offers custom aromatherapy blends, one-on-one transformational coaching and facilitates healing arts workshops using Poetry and Aromatherapy to support people on their self care journey.

My passion is speaking about using spirituality, aromatherapy and creating sacred spaces to break free from oppressive thinking and learn the truth about the power and potential all people have when they have support and the right environment to nurture their gifts and talents.
