One of the best ways to deal with stress and overwhelm is to create a Self Care Ritual when you are NOT in a state of overwhelm.
When you are having a good day, when you have a sense of peace and calm this is the best time to start creating a self care practice.
The best tool for stress and overwhelm is to deal with it the same way that you deal with health.. PREVENTION!
Just like daily preventative health practices (like exercise and a healthy diet) create good physical health, having daily Self Care Rituals is just like having your very own preventative emotional health practice.
The more you practice regulating your breath and your emotions BEFORE sh*t hits the fan, the better you will be able to handle daily challenges and obstacles when they arise.
One of my favorite and EASIEST Self Care Rituals I do are Dream Work Rituals. It only takes 5 minutes before bed!
When you understand how our subconcious mind works, Dream Work can be a pretty amazing tool.
As soon as you wake up in the morning your subconscious mind is most available to you. In the middle of the night and right as you are opening your eyes in the morning, you have no distractions. No phone, no computer, no tv, no one asking you anything or talking to you, this is a very precious time to have important things revealed to you.
Most of the "limiting beliefs" we have that get in the way of the things we want to accomplish live in our subconscious mind as well. Most of the solutions we need about our life and our body, also live in our subconscious mind and the best way to access this important information is through our dreams.
Answers to simple questions like "What should I make for dinner tomorrow?" or "How can I find more Joy?" to more complex questions like "What can I do about this difficult relationship i'm in" to "how can I best heal my body of this ailment?", chances are, you already know the answers to these questions, you just need to access your subconscious mind to find them.
